Kiwi sitting up

First clicker training lesson to teach Kiwi to sit up. She likes Papaya, but can only have a very small amount, so I'm breaking one small piece into many pieces, to train a few time daily.

Bunny Run

This is Kiwi's new improved cage with bunny run.  Now she will have the option to be out of her cage whenever she wants.  By the looks of the bunny trails she left, she spent a lot of time out of her cage in the run last night.  I'm really happy with this.

Also found out the news on the uncoming Lionhead bunny.  The 2 females that were bred are due on September 7 and September 13.  I know the breeder is keeping one sable point doe, so hopefully there will be one more doe for us out of one litter!  Fingers crossed!

Great Day with Kiwi

Got a bunch of great shots of Kiwi today.  Couldn't decide on my favorite so I just posted all of them.

Accomplished a lot today.  Got a bit of a bunny run built off Kiwi's cage today.  So now, now only does she her cage to be in, but she can hop out for more exercise room.  I think for now I'll only leave the run open while I'm home, to see how it goes, while I can check on her.  She seemed to LOVE it.  She was like a new bunny today when we had her out and about in the room.  She was hopping in and out of the cage.  She was eating pellets out of the bowl in the run area.  She was eating hay out of the run area.  She was hopping all over the room.  She was approaching me and Alex, leaning on us, sniffing us.  She wasn't running away when we reached out to her.  She was going  down the tunnel, over and over.  AND, she was even snuggling with my cat Neko.

I'm so excited about her actions today.  It's the first I've seen her where she looks like she was more relaxed.

Pictures of the cage/ run tomorrow!

Ears up!

So this was a cute shot I took today.  The ears up look!  If you hold her ears up, they will stay that was for a bit, so took advantage and got this shot!

Two ears down for good?

Well today Kiwi's 2 ears are both down.  Wonder if they will stay that way this time.  I know a few days ago this happened and then the one popped back up again. It's almost hard getting use to having them both down.  The one up, one down look was awfully cute!

She's still not liking being picked up.  Whenever I reach for her she takes off.  I guess she still needs time to get use to the change.

I made her 2 cardboard house to play in.... but so far she has no interest in going in them.  She did sniff the one though.

I bought her a cute little neck bandana the other day at a fair.... hoping to get some pictures of her with it on either today or tomorrow.

Kiwi puts herself away

When Kiwi has had enough, she makes herself over to the cage and jumps right in!

Kiwi loved her first walk in the grass!

Had a great day with Kiwi!  Dressed her up and put on her harness to go to Granny's house.  She just LOVED hopping around in the grass for the first time.  She has had no problem adjusting to the harness.  That's great news because now she will be able to go on loads of outings with us.  She looks so cute when she hops.  The leash is kind of like a bungee cord, so sometimes if she gets to far ahead of me and hops, it's like she's hopping in place.  Too cute!
Finished making a small adjustable hurdle jump for Kiwi.  Just out of boxes and wooden dowels but it does the trick.  She has no problem juming over it but you have to herd her over to it to get her to jump.  Still want to figure out how to clicker train her but not quite sure how to go about it..... mainly because she can only have pellets and timothy hay until shes 6 months old, so how can I treat her for a reward?????
Heading to Lowes this weekend so I can buy a few power tools to make a few other things for her too!

Kiwi has pigtails today!

Kiwi's is pretty in pink wearing her baby fur in pigtails today.  Not too much baby fur left!
Today she started playing with the ball in her cage.  So cute!  It's a small cat toy ball with the bell inside.  She picks it up with her mouth and tosses it.  So far, she's only done this in the cage.
Tonight I'm making some cardboard houses for her to play in and also some beginners agility equipment.  Bought some wooden dowels to make a jump tonight.

Fuzzy Mohawk front view

The fuzzy mohawk

Today Kiwi is wearing the stylish Mohawk....... She's so adorable so could have no fur and still be cute.  Boy is her fur flying.... she's blowing her baby coat and has lost a lot of her longer fur!
She had a bunch of free roam time in the room. I love to watch her hopping around. She now knows exactly where her cage is, and goes right in when she wants too.  She's still a little figidity, but I'm sure that it will take weeks for her to get use to her new surroundings, and us, not days.
The cats are getting along fine with her and she doesn't seem to mind them sniffing around her.  Yoda is the only cat that really doesn't care for her, but Pebbles and Neko are especially interested in her.
She got her nails clipped for the first time today and it went fine.  It's hard to find her nails with those furry feet.  Holding her like a baby to get her in the trance is extremely helpful for nail clipping.

Outdoor wear

Kiwi was modeling her new outdoor wear today.  She a sweet little beauty with her pink and green harness vest with matching leash.  It was a bit of a struggle to get it on her and should actually be a 2 person job with her being so small.  I had to lay her on her back and put her in the trance and then buckle and velcro it.  The velcro is also a pain with her fuzzy hair, but she's very fast and I won't take her outside without it.
She was on a binkie freenzy today, jumping all over.  I find it so amusing.
I caught her laying down in the sun today.... but eyes were open.
She has just started to eat hay from my hand too!

Learned something new

Never knew this until today but bunnies usually sleep with their eyes open.  I was wondering why I never see Kiwi sleeping!

Also saw and learned the difference between Cecal and Fecal bunny poo.  Cecal Poo is the softer pellets that they eat!  YUCK!

One other interesting fact is that is you turn a bunny on it's back it goes in a trance-like state.  Although they say bunnies dont like being pet on their tummy.

Kiwi munching on Hay

Well today we made a little bit of progress.  Kiwi is just starting to approach me on her own when shes out of the cage.  Putting her paws up on me and bumping my hand with her nose.  She's just the cutest thing.  I got a bit of video of her muching down on some Timothy Hay.  One of the first times I've seen her eat.  I still haven't seen her eating any pellets or drinking, but with all the bunny trails she's leaving on the floor, she must be eating something!  She did another cute thing today too.  She was playing in and out of the cage.  She figured out she can hop in and out and she did it four times in a row, like she was practicing.  She also went through the tunnel toy I got her yesterday, although Kyler and Alex seen her do that.  I haven't been so luck as of yet!

Hop Hop Hop

Do the bunny HOP HOP HOP!  Yesterday was the first day that we got Kiwi out for any amount of time.  She had so much fun running around and exploring the room. We gave her a few cat toys which she checked out but didn't really do anything with yet.  Also got out her tunnel, but no interest in that yet either.  Bought a  few bows for her fur and boy is she extra adorable with the bow!  Picked up a bunny harness/leash for her too.... so I'll eventually start getting her use to that.  She also went on a little field trip to Granny's house for a visit.

Sunday, August 21,2011:  Third day with Kiwi....... As soon as I got up this morning I went and got Kiwi out for some bunny running fun!  I got really lucky because I got to see her do a running bunny hop a few times.  Next task is getting it on video.   Still haven't seen her eating pellets or drinking.... only nibbling on some timothy hay.... but I'm assuming she is when I'm not looking!

Kiwi Bunny

Kiwi Comes Home

August 19, 2011 :  Kiwi came home today.  YEAH!  This is her cage that was set up and waiting on her.  Only difference is that we have a few other toys and chews in there now too.  The breeder gave us an information sheet with bunny information on. Only pellets, Timothy Hay, and Oats until she's 6 months old.  She was a little skittish tonight and we tried our hardest to NOT handle her much.  We didn't want to stress her out so we left her to explore her cage.

Visited Our New Bunny

Our adventure in bunny ownership began by going to a fair while on our Ohio visit.  A simple trip into see the chickens ended with falling in love with the Lionhead bunnies.  We were immediatly determined to get one.  Unable to bring one home with us on the trip, we found a local breeder in Pa, only 15 minutes away from where we live. Murphy's Lions and Lops  She didn't have any Lionhead baby bunnies, but two Does have been bred and we will hopefully have a Lionhead bunny also in a few months!  She did have some Fuzzy Lops available.

August 15, 2011:  Today we saw our bunny for the first time. All the bunnies were beautiful and the owner was very nice, friendly, and knowledgable. She also shows bunnies with a lot of success.  The bunny is so cute and fuzzy.  We already picked the name Kiwi for her.  She seems so calm and likes to be combed.  She wont be ready to come home until Friday.  She was born on June 17, 2011, two days early from her due date of June 19th.
